  • .We are currently hiring ABA Therapists (RBT’s) that are looking to use their training and skills to make a difference in a child’s life.

  • Under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), a licensed psychologist, or licensed social worker a Behavior Therapist uses prompting and positive reinforcement to help individuals with autism develop and build upon skills that will help them to reach their full potential in being independent in every aspect of their lives throughout their lives.
  • Provide applied behavior analysis (ABA) and other appropriate treatment interventions to clients in natural environments.
  • Data collection, analysis and preparation for presentation.
  • Coordinate with other program staff to ensure program consistency.
  • Provide feedback to parents and guardians regarding daily activities of client.
  • Collaborate with a team
  • Receive feedback and implement feedback into treatment.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Must have Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, special education, sociology or related field
  • Willingness to learn and receive feedback on performance
  • Willingness to follow instructions and ask questions
  • Demonstrate a passion for working with clients with developmental and social challenges.
  • Comfortable working in a team environment, or independently depending on the program
  • Experience:
  • Applied behavior analysis: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Working with children or people on the autism spectrum: 1 year (Preferred)

Department:      Special Services

Reports To:      ABA Therapist/ABA Supervisor

Provides applied behavior therapy and autism specified services to assigned clients.

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides intensive individualized therapy services directed toward the development and/or enhancement of skills necessary for emotional, cognitive, behavioral, language, and interpersonal growth of the client based on their treatment plan.
  • Uses appropriate applied behavior and other approaches deemed appropriate for teaching, communication, and reinforcement techniques consistently.
  • Accurately completes all required documentation and data collection daily.
  • Works with an individual client to reinforce learning of material or skills as described in the Individual Care Plan/treatment plan.
  • Assists the lead clinician in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of the individual client, his/her needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Helps the client master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the clinician.
  • Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the client.
  • Assists with the supervision of the client during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, community outings, in home treatment with family, and with vocational supports.
  • Reads to the client as needed, listens to the client read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with the assigned client.
  • Assists the client throughout the center, home, community environment as necessary.
  • Checks notebooks and supervises testing and make up work as assigned by the teacher from school and clinician.
  • Helps the client with his/her clothing as needed.
  • Assists with lunch, snack and cleanup routines.
  • Assists with wash-up and toilet routines.
  • Alerts the team and guardian to any problem or special information about the individual client.
  • Supervises, observes and assists the assigned client at all times, including escorting the client during all transitions and lunch or as prescribed in the student’s ICP.
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about the client as is expected of fully licensed clinicians.
  • Participates in inservice training programs as assigned.

Supervises clients.

Sixty semester hours of postsecondary work or; an associate’s degree; or successful completion of ParaProfessional Test.

Ability to read, educational procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write routine reports and simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students or other employees of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.  Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of Education policies.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  The employee must be able to push items of 50 lbs. Such as pushing children on a bike or moving/rearranging furniture.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.
